Meet the Author
Jewell Baggett-Strehlau, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
DR. JEWELL IS AN EXPERT IN AUDIOLOGY WITH A MASTER’S DEGREE from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and a doctoral degree from AT Still University in Arizona. She is a published author in the American Journal of Otolaryngology (2009), co-authoring a paper on the use of micronutrients in the treatment of tinnitus. She has been a member of both audiology professional organizations (AAA and ADA), served on both the AAA Ethical Practices Committee and on the Ethical Practices Committee for the Tennessee Academy of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology organization. She has been awarded the AAA scholar award for several consecutive years for her dedication to continuing education.
She also served as the Private Practice Representative and President for the Tennessee Academy of Audiology and contributed to re-writing Tennessee state guidelines for both audiologists and hearing instrument specialists. Dr. Jewell’s clinical experience is varied, including ENT practices, a school system, hearing aid manufacturers, and in clinical private practice. She is the owner of Audiology and Hearing Health (est. 1992) where her husband, John, serves as practice manager and hearing instrument specialist.
She has presented at professional conferences throughout her career and is always happy to present at local organizations to promote healthy hearing. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). This additional certification demonstrates achievement and specialized training in the areas of Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
On a personal note, Dr. Jewell and her husband have one son, (Zach, married to his high school sweetheart, Jordan), three dogs, and one cat. They love to vacation together – favorites places are South Carolina beaches, Louisiana, and Lake Tahoe.
She is a proud member of a competition a Capella chorus (Metro Nashville Chorus) and has performed with them in regional and national competitions and even on the stage of the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
